At Pulp Friction, we believe in the power of community-driven sustainability. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Nature & Climate Project, supported by external funding from OVO Energy. This exciting initiative is designed to empower our Members with practical, hands-on skills that will not only help combat climate change but also equip them with practical independence skills.

A Focus on Learning and Development

Thanks to the generous funding from OVO Energy, we’ve been able to hire a Nature & Climate Project Leader, Micha, who will be dedicating two days a week to guide and support our Members and the overall project. Micha’s expertise will help shape our activities, which are aimed at upskilling Members.

Some of the key areas we’ll be covering include:

  • Composting: Turning organic waste into nutrient-rich soil to enrich gardens and reduce landfill waste.
  • Reduce Food Waste: Practical strategies for reducing food waste at home and in communities.
  • Water Preservation: Learning efficient ways to conserve water in daily activities and reduce our environmental footprint.
  • Paper-making: Reusing materials to create new, sustainable products from waste.
  • Tree Identification: Building knowledge about local trees and how they contribute to the environment.
  • Growing Food: Teaching practical gardening skills to grow your own produce.

The aim of the project is simple yet powerful: to build the confidence and skills of our Members, enabling them to share their newfound knowledge by delivering workshops in schools, at local clubs, and community events.

Empowering the Community to Deliver Change

Our long-term goal is for participants to not only learn about sustainability but also take the lead in spreading this knowledge. By upskilling our Members, we’re creating a ripple effect that encourages others to adopt eco-friendly practices, from reducing food waste to identifying and preserving local plant life. We envision a future where sustainability is woven into the fabric of everyday life, with Pulp Friction’s Members acting as local ambassadors of change.

The Nature & Climate Project is set to run until August, and we’re excited to see the transformation in both our Members and the communities we serve. With OVO Energy’s support, we’re confident that this project will be a positive initiative at Pulp Friction and beyond.
