Following our exciting Chelsea Flower Show experience, you may be wondering what happened to our beautiful garden… Well, we’ll tell you!

When the show ended, we had just three days to pack up and get everything moving back out! So, our project and design team sprang into action once again — this time to bring our Growing Skills Garden back home. With the tremendous support of more than 200 volunteers, we were able to replant the garden in its new space, where we hope it’ll continue to grow and flourish.

Our garden now proudly sits at Stockhill Fire Station in Nottingham, just a short 10-minute drive from our Community Café. Once the relocation and replanting were complete, we celebrated in style (despite the rain!) with a launch event on June 15th, 2024, take a look at this short film to see how it went:

Our Members continue to tend to the garden, helping the plants thrive in their new home and using edible components from the garden in our community cooking.

The garden is intended to be enjoyed by all. The central seating area was designed to encourage people to come together, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company.

We specifically chose Stockhill Fire Station for the garden’s relocation to cement our appreciation for the ongoing relationship and partnership we share with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. The garden was designed with the fire team in mind, planted as a space of calm where Fire Service staff can relax and recharge after their mentally, emotionally, and physically challenging jobs.

With community playing a big role in everything we do, we selected a space for the garden that is central to the community, hoping it would serve as a place to bring people together. We also wanted to ensure that the skills of our members are visible and accessible for all to learn about.

If you’re local to the area, be sure to stop by and enjoy a sit in the garden!

Thank you to our funders Project Giving Back for their endless support and the creation of the film, and our wonderful designers Dutch Landscape Architects.
