In partnership with food redistribution charity, FareShare Midlands, our Members are gaining valuable work experience in Nottingham City Council’s Loxley House kitchen!
At Loxley House, our Members help the FareShare team peel, chop and prepare surplus food ready for it to be cooked into nutritious meals. The meals made at Loxley House are then distributed to charities and community groups for their beneficiaries to enjoy at a social eating event, or for dinner with and friends and family.
Pulp Friction and FareShare Midlands
Our relationship with FareShare Midlands began in 2018 when we supported their Holiday Provision Project over the summer. Since then, we have received weekly deliveries of surplus food to cook and offer to customers at our various catering enterprises.

The work experience placement is helping to build our Members’ skills in the kitchen, such as Food Safety, food preparation, knife skills, soup cooking, as well as introducing new kitchen equipment, such as large sealing machines and combi ovens.
The partnership is also benefitting Members with confidence building and the opportunity to practice their lone travel skills!
