Chosen as one of Wollaton Inner Wheel’s Charity of the Year, Pulp Friction were delighted to be able to help the group celebrate their Centenary!
The Inner Wheel was founded in 1924, in Manchester. Members in Inner Wheel often volunteer as a way to support local communities and give back. They have projects supporting refuge centres for abused women, hostels for the dispossessed, child centres and drop-in centres, school breakfast clubs and much more. They have an underlying theme of friendship and care amongst the 500 local clubs.

To celebrate the centenary of the Inner Wheel…
members of the local Wollaton club contacted Pulp Friction to see if we could work together to make a positive impact in celebration of the 100 years.
It was decided 100 bulbs would be planted in Pulp Friction’s Chelsea Flower Show garden, sitting at Stockhill Fire Station in Nottingham,to mark the special occasion.
To ensure the planting supported the design and ambition of the Stockhill garden, we received advice from one of the garden’s designers, Tin-Tin Dutch Landscape Architects, to ensure the flowers chosen were early flowering, and therefore provide bees food for longer.
In November 2024, Stella, Kath and Jane from Wollaton Inner Wheel joined Pulp Friction Members, Eleanor and Claire, at the garden to plant the 100 bulbs.
We are looking forward to watching them grow and bloom throughout the year, and hope this is a start of positive things to come working alongside the Inner Wheel.
